With an equity stake of more than 33 %, IndianOil (Mauritius) Ltd has been an important and dominant part of consortium of four existing oil companies which provides aviation refuelling services at SSR International Airport.
The Consortium of Oil Companies have financed the setting up of this Aviation Storage tankage on the plot of land leased by the Government of Mauritius. The storage capacity of this Airport Terminal is sufficient to store country's need for 18 days' coverage of Jet A-1.
Within a short span of existence in the Island (2004), IndianOil (Mauritius) Ltd has become the most preferred aviation fuel supplier in Mauritius, servicing at present almost 50% of the total aviation fuel supplies in Mauritius. IOML caters for International and Domestic Airlines viz. Air Mauritius, Air France, British Airways and the Mauritius Police Department etc.
IndianOil (Mauritius) Ltd has hugely invested in new technologies in view of providing world class services to its clients. The company has set up a modern state-of-the-art storage facility of 33,305 Metric Ton (MT) capacity at Mer Rouge in Port Louis. This oil terminal at Port Louis is the Oil Petroleum Installation in Mauritius accredited with ISO 9001– 2015 Certification and possesses some of the most modern facilities for handling and delivery of petroleum products including loading bays and tank gauging systems, which are all micro-processor controlled. The Quality Control norms at the terminal are benchmarked to international standards. Highly qualified personnel maintain the QC operations to ensure that global standards are maintained at all times.
IOML has a storage capacity of almost 12,200 KL for Jet A-1 in its Port Louis Terminal and this is among the highest storage capacity for JET A-1 in Mauritius.
In Mauritius the fuel is sent via tank trucks from the storage tanks of the petroleum companies located in Port-Louis to the storage tanks (jointly owned by all local oil companies) located at the airport.
Quality checks are performed on the fuel at each point in the distribution system to guard against contamination. To ensure delivery of "Refinery fit" quality products to its clients, IndianOil (Mauritius) Ltd has installed dedicated/ separate pipeline of each product for receipt from Tankers. This is a unique feature adopted by any oil marketing company in Mauritius.
Airport of Mauritius
Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (IATA: MRU, ICAO: FIMP), SSR Airport, is the main international airport in Mauritius. It is located 26 nautical miles (48 km) southeast of the capital city of Port Louis. The airport, set to become a regional hub, has direct flights to several destinations in Africa, Asia, Europe and is home to the country's national airline Air Mauritius. A new terminal was inaugurated in September 2013 with an array of modern facilities aiming to improve efficiency and ground services. The New passenger Terminal at SSR International Airport is managed by Airport Terminal Operations Ltd (ATOL), a company which has been set up as a result of the partnership between Airports of Mauritius Co Ltd (AML) and Aeroport de Paris Management (ADPM). The terminal occupies a surface of 56 900 m2 and can accommodate 4.5 million passengers a year. The terminal is equipped with five boarding gates with aerobridges, including one compatible with the large Airbus A380, check-in desks for departing passengers, immigration counters, and baggage carousels.
